Paris trial over Brigitte Macron cyberbullying

Ten people accused of sexist cyber‑bullying against France’s first lady, Brigitte Macron, go on trial in Paris this week, charged with spreading unfounded claims about her gender and sexuality and mocking the couple’s 24‑year age gap. They face up to two years in jail. Among the defendants are an elected official, a gallery owner and a teacher; two, Natacha Rey and Amandine Roy, were previously acquitted on appeal after a slander conviction, a decision Mrs Macron and her brother are contesting.
