Navy loses two aircraft from USS Nimitz aircraft carrier within 30 minutes

Two Nimitz-based aircraft — an MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter and an F/A-18F Super Hornet — crashed into the South China Sea within 30 minutes, the Navy’s Pacific Fleet said. All five crew members were rescued and are in stable condition as causes are investigated. President Donald Trump, speaking en route to Tokyo, suggested “bad fuel” as a possibility, ruling out foul play. The USS Nimitz is returning to Naval Base Kitsap after a Middle East deployment and is on its final deployment before decommissioning. Separately, the USS Harry S. Truman has faced multiple recent flight mishaps without fatalities.
