U.S.-based tuner Hennessey Performance has revealed the Hennessey Blackbird, a high-performance sports car inspired by the SR-71 Blackbird spy plane. The vehicle features a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Hennessey claims the setup delivers a top speed of 220 mph. The car’s quad-exhaust layout is modeled on the Bell X-1, the first aircraft to break the sound barrier. The Blackbird was presented in conjunction with coverage by luxury publication Robb Report, which is promoting the model through its digital channels.
