Irish singer-songwriter and Oscar-winning musician Glen Hansard has died at 56 after a single-vehicle motorcycle crash near Dublin. The accident occurred early Wednesday on the R109 near Strawberry Beds in Lucan, on the outskirts of the capital. Emergency services were called shortly before 4:30 a.m. local time, but Hansard was pronounced dead at the scene. His management company, ATC Management, confirmed his death and said his family is deeply shocked and heartbroken. Irish police have opened a full investigation into the collision. Hansard was internationally known as front man of The Frames and for his Academy Award-winning song "Falling Slowly."
