Donald Trump confirmed he will meet New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani in the Oval Office on Friday, after months of clashes between the Republican president and the Democratic rising star. Trump said Mamdani requested the sit-down, and the mayor-elect's team called such meetings customary. Spokesperson Dora Pekec said Mamdani will raise public safety, economic security and the affordability agenda backed by over a million voters. Trump had labeled him a communist and threatened deportation, but, after Republican losses in November, has emphasized affordability, saying we'll work something out.
