Frustration boiled over in Washington as Detroit seized control early. After Jahmyr Gibbs’ second touchdown in the second quarter, Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne punched Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and was ejected. Detroit capitalized, as David Montgomery ran in the two-point try to make it 22-3. More turmoil followed when Javon Kinlaw drew a 15-yard penalty for making contact with an official, though he avoided ejection. The Commanders finally answered with their first touchdown, trimming the deficit to 22-10.
