The Anti-Defamation League launched an unprecedented project to monitor New York City mayor elect Zohran Mamdani’s policies, citing Jewish safety concerns and his statements on Israel. The effort includes a tip line for reporting antisemitism. ADL chief Jonathan Greenblatt framed it as accountability, not about Mamdani’s identity, and condemned calls to probe his citizenship. Mamdani, the city’s first Muslim and South Asian leader, said he takes antisemitism seriously but questioned Greenblatt’s credibility. Greenblatt said criticism of Israel can be legitimate yet argued Mamdani applies a double standard.
