Addison Barger smashed the first pinch‑hit grand slam in World Series history, capping a seven-run sixth that vaulted the Blue Jays to a 9-2 lead over the Dodgers in Game 1. Toronto opened the inning with six straight reaching — four with two strikes — then scored on an Ernie Clement single, a Nathan Lukes walk and an Andrés Giménez hit before Barger delivered. Earlier, Daulton Varsho tied it 2-2 with a fourth-inning homer off Blake Snell. The Dodgers, who allowed just four runs in the NLCS, were pushed into their shaky bullpen and paid for it.
