Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, in a Friday night broadcast, accused the Trump administration of “fabricating a new eternal war” as the world’s largest warship, the USS Gerald R. Ford, moves closer to the country. He denounced U.S. pressure and dismissed Donald Trump’s unsubstantiated claim that he leads the Tren de Aragua gang, calling the narrative “vulgar” and “fake,” adding, “Venezuela is a country that does not produce cocaine leaves.” U.S. forces have destroyed several boats off Venezuela’s coast, allegedly tied to drug trafficking, leaving at least 43 dead. Tren de Aragua is linked to killings, extortion and human smuggling.
