White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt detailed President Donald Trump’s Asia trip, departing Friday night for Malaysia, with a Sunday arrival, a bilateral with the Malaysian prime minister, and an ASEAN leaders’ dinner. On Monday he heads to Tokyo for talks with Japan’s new prime minister, Sanae Takaichi, then flies to Busan for a meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung. Trump will meet China’s Xi Jinping next Thursday in Busan on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit, before returning to Washington. The meeting follows Trump’s announcement of new 100% tariffs on imports from China.
