Regretting You, the first follow-up to the hit It Ends With Us, lands as a wan echo of Colleen Hoover’s breakout. Directed by Josh Boone and written by Susan McMartin, it’s faulted for missing chemistry, uncanny thirtysomethings as teens, and a lurching mix of grief and romcom fluff. Despite flashes from Allison Williams and McKenna Grace, its two-hour sprawl and streaming sheen blunt the melodrama, even as twists—including an affair and a fatal crash—pile up. The film’s uneven execution hints that the CoHo movie moment may be short-lived.
