Prince Andrew said he will stop using his titles — including Duke of York and the Order of the Garter — amid scrutiny over his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. The move, effective immediately and agreed with the King, comes days before the posthumous memoir of Virginia Giuffre is released; Guardian extracts allege Andrew had sex with her on three occasions, which he denies. Andrew settled a civil case with Giuffre in 2022 without admitting wrongdoing. He will remain a prince, will not spend Christmas in Sandringham, and will stay at Windsor’s Royal Lodge under a lease running to 2078.
