Poll Finds Broad Blame as Shutdown Deepens

Read, Watch or Listen

As the shutdown enters its third week, a new AP-NORC poll shows broad frustration and blame aimed at every side, with about six in ten Americans assigning significant responsibility to President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans, and 54% saying the same of Democrats. More than half call the shutdown a major issue as flights are delayed and federal workers miss paychecks. The stalemate centers on whether to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits; roughly four in ten support the extension and many are unsure. A judge temporarily blocked federal worker firings, and confidence in Congress remains scant.
