A leaked EU Defence Readiness Roadmap 2030 sets a brisk timetable: the “European Drone Wall,” integrated into a network-based drone capability, by end-2027, and the broader Eastern Flank Watch functional by end-2028. The plan prioritises multi-layered, interoperable counter-drone systems, EU-wide military mobility by 2027, and sharper joint procurement targets (40% by 2027; 60% from the EDTIB and Ukraine by 2030). Yet financing remains thin. Beyond a proposed €131bn defence budget and €18bn for mobility, the roadmap urges private investment and an EIB €1bn equity “fund of funds.”
