A nor’easter churned up the East Coast on Sunday, flooding roads and slowing air travel as the Northeast braced for heavy rain, strong winds and coastal flooding. New Jersey remained under a statewide emergency, while Nassau County, Long Island, issued its own as warnings covered New York City. Overwash crossed Highway 12 in North Carolina’s Outer Banks and Myrtle Beach closed several roads. Gusts topped 30 mph, with forecasts up to 60 mph and as much as 5 inches of rain. Utilities added more than 1,600 workers. The storm could exit by Monday night.
