At the New York Film Festival’s closing night at Alice Tully Hall, Bradley Cooper presented his third directorial, Is This Thing On?, calling it the only place to show the film. The festival, smitten after seeing an unfinished print just months after shooting wrapped, celebrated the New York- and stand-up–steeped project. Will Arnett stars as a man nearing divorce who finds catharsis as an amateur comic; Laura Dern plays his wife, Tess. Cooper, who co-wrote with Arnett and Mark Chappell, praised Searchlight’s Matthew Greenfield for helping the team reach NYFF.
