Oklahoma Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt, chair of the National Governors Association, has voiced opposition to sending National Guard troops across state borders without the receiving state's consent. This stance challenges President Trump's push to deploy troops to Democrat-led cities. Stitt supports Trump's efforts to enforce law and order but believes that deploying troops from one state to another against the receiving governor's wishes sets a dangerous precedent. The National Governors Association, a bipartisan group, has yet to take a position on the issue.
