Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national wrongfully deported from the US, is set for an evidentiary hearing in Maryland. The hearing will focus on the steps taken to remove him from the US, with government witnesses expected to testify. Despite a 2019 court order barring his deportation to El Salvador, he was deported there in March, only to be brought back to the US in June to face human smuggling charges. The Department of Homeland Security had planned to deport him to Ghana, but this was rejected by Ghana's foreign minister.
