The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has responded to an op-ed by six former surgeons general, who warned of Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s "immediate and unprecedented" threat to national health. HHS spokesperson Andrew Nixon criticized the doctors, claiming they presided over public health decline and are now challenging a secretary confronting issues directly. The former surgeons general cited Kennedy's promotion of misinformation on vaccines and unproven treatments, as well as his changes to the CDC's vaccine advisory committee, as serious concerns.
