A pro-Western Ukrainian politician, Andriy Parubiy, was assassinated in Lviv. Ukrainian authorities arrested a suspect, claiming a Russian connection to the murder. The suspect, disguised as a courier, shot Parubiy eight times. Police described the killing as carefully planned, involving surveillance and an escape route. Parubiy was a prominent figure in Ukraine's pro-European protests and had previously survived an assassination attempt. Both Ukraine and Russia have accused each other of assassinations since the 2022 invasion.
