The new film adaptation of "The War of the Roses", simply titled "The Roses", starring Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch, offers a gentler portrayal of a marriage than its predecessor. While the original focused on vicious hatred during a divorce, this version highlights a loving couple battling resentment and boredom. Although charming, the film lacks the original's biting satire and impactful ending. The supporting cast, including Andy Samberg and Kate McKinnon, doesn't fully utilize their comedic talents. The movie is enjoyable but ultimately a missed opportunity to capture the essence of the source material's dark humor.
