In August, seven migrants were deported from the US to Rwanda as part of a new deportation agreement. Rwanda has agreed to accept up to 250 deportees. The migrants are being housed by an international organization and offered support services. Three want to return home, while four wish to remain in Rwanda. Other African nations, including Uganda, Eswatini, and South Sudan, have also signed similar agreements with the US, sparking controversy over the secrecy surrounding these deals and the conditions faced by deportees.
