FTC Sues Ticket Reseller for Taylor Swift Scalping

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sued Maryland-based Key Investment Group (KIG) for allegedly violating the Better Online Ticket Sales Act (BOTS Act). KIG is accused of using fraudulent methods to acquire nearly 380,000 concert tickets, including Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, and reselling them for millions in profit. The FTC claims KIG bypassed Ticketmaster's purchase limits using fake accounts and IP addresses. KIG denies wrongdoing, arguing the FTC's interpretation of the BOTS Act is overly broad and illogical. This lawsuit follows President Trump's executive order pushing for stricter BOTS Act enforcement and marks a significant development in government oversight of the live music ticketing industry.
