Scientists have, for the first time, captured a real-time video of a human embryo implanting in a lab-simulated uterus. Using a novel apparatus, researchers at IBEC in Spain recorded the process, observing the embryo's invasive burrowing and force exerted. This four-dimensional imaging reveals crucial details about implantation, a process critical to successful pregnancies and often failing in IVF. The findings, published in Science Advances, may significantly improve IVF success rates by shedding light on the role of uterine contractions and the embryo's response to its environment. The study utilized embryos donated from IVF treatments.
