Retired U.S. Air Force Col. Arnald Gabriel, 100, recently conducted the Wheaton Municipal Band remotely, fulfilling a contract he signed decades ago. Gabriel, a former conductor of the U.S. Air Force Band, agreed in a lighthearted contract with the band's conductor, Bruce Moss, to conduct on his 100th birthday. Despite declining health preventing travel, Gabriel honored his commitment, conducting remotely and emphasizing the importance of keeping one's word.
