Jellyfish Swarm Shuts Down French Nuclear Plant

A massive jellyfish swarm forced the temporary shutdown of four units at France's Gravelines nuclear power plant on Monday. The jellyfish clogged the plant's cooling system, causing an automatic shutdown. EDF, the plant operator, confirmed no safety or environmental impact, stating the jellyfish were in the non-nuclear part of the facility. The plant, one of France's largest, relies on seawater cooling from a canal connected to the North Sea, where jellyfish are common. While systems are in place to prevent such incidents, the jellyfish's gelatinous nature allowed them to bypass initial filters. The plant is working to restore operations safely.
