China's July export growth surged to 7.2%, exceeding forecasts, while imports hit a one-year high at 4.1%. This positive trade performance, driven by increased shipments to alternative markets like Southeast Asia and the EU, offsets decreased exports to the U.S. Despite this, China's overall exports are up 6.1% year-to-date, while imports are down 2.7%. The trade surplus stands at $683.5 billion. However, factory activity weakened, and tariff negotiations with the U.S. remain unresolved before the August 12th deadline.
