Tesla plans to launch its Robotaxi service in San Francisco this weekend, according to an internal memo. The service, initially invite-only and operating within a large geofenced area of the Bay Area, will utilize safety drivers. While Tesla has permits for testing autonomous vehicles in California, it hasn't yet applied for permits to offer a commercial robotaxi service. The launch follows a recent Austin rollout and comes despite Tesla's recent revenue drop and amidst ongoing regulatory processes in California and other states.
