France to recognise Palestinian state in September

French President Emmanuel Macron announced France's official recognition of a Palestinian state in September, during the UN General Assembly. This decision, welcomed by Palestinian officials, was condemned by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who views it as rewarding terrorism following the Hamas attack. Macron's announcement emphasizes the need for a ceasefire in Gaza, release of hostages, humanitarian aid, and demilitarization of Hamas. The recognition of Palestine, alongside Israel, aims to contribute to regional security. Many countries already recognize Palestine, but key allies of Israel, like the US and UK, have not.
