Tesla has applied to test and operate autonomous vehicles in Arizona's Phoenix area, aiming to expand its robotaxi service. The application, submitted to the Arizona Department of Transportation, covers both testing with and without a driver. A decision is expected by month's end. This follows a limited robotaxi launch in Austin. Arizona's regulations differ from California's, where Tesla only holds a permit for testing with a safety driver. Waymo already operates a driverless robotaxi service in parts of Phoenix.
