Five Israeli soldiers were killed and 14 wounded in an explosion and ambush in northern Gaza on Monday night. The soldiers, from the Netzah Yehuda Battalion, were on foot near Beit Hanoun when explosives detonated. A subsequent ambush targeted rescue crews. This is the deadliest single incident for Israeli forces in Gaza since June, bringing the total number of Israeli soldiers killed since the start of the ground campaign to 446.
