Paris reopens Seine River for public swimming

Parisians can now swim in the Seine River for the first time in over a century. Three supervised swimming zones have opened, a legacy of the Paris 2024 Olympics and a result of significant investment in water quality improvement. The €1.4 billion cleanup project aimed to make the river safe for both athletes and the public. While swimming was banned since 1923 due to pollution, improved wastewater management and treatment have allowed for this momentous reopening. Access is free until August 31st.
