Despite Nintendo's claim that the Switch 2 only supports VRR in handheld mode, testing reveals the official dock actually enables VRR when connected to other handheld devices like the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally. These devices achieve 4K at 120Hz with HDR and VRR through the dock. While the Switch 2 itself supports VRR, Nintendo hasn't enabled this output via the dock, possibly due to performance issues. Experts speculate this was an honest mistake on Nintendo's part, not a deliberate omission.
