Japan successfully launched its final H-2A rocket on June 28th, 2025, carrying the GOSAT-GW satellite. This dual-purpose satellite will monitor greenhouse gases and sea temperatures, contributing to climate change research. The H-2A rocket, operational for nearly 25 years with a 98% success rate, is being retired in favor of the more cost-effective H3 rocket. GOSAT-GW joins other satellites, GCOM-W2 and GOSAT-1, in Earth's orbit to enhance climate monitoring.
