Thailand has banned tourists from entering Cambodia due to escalating border tensions and a dispute over land. The ban follows armed clashes in May and includes restrictions on land crossings and flights to Siem Reap. Cambodia has also imposed retaliatory measures, including import bans on Thai goods. Exemptions may be granted on humanitarian grounds. The ban is partly aimed at combating illegal scam operations in Cambodia, a problem Thailand has previously addressed with similar measures in Myanmar. The dispute has also created a political crisis in Thailand following a leaked phone call between the Thai Prime Minister and Cambodia's former leader.
