Celestis, a space burial service, partnered with The Exploration Company (TEC) for a new mission. TEC's 'Mission Possible' flight, launching June 22nd via SpaceX, will carry over 150 capsules containing cremated remains and DNA samples to low Earth orbit. After orbiting, the capsules will re-enter the atmosphere and splash down in the Pacific Ocean for retrieval. This marks Celestis' 25th mission and includes the DNA of three-year-old Matteo Barth, making him the youngest European to have his DNA sent to space.
