Thousands celebrated the summer solstice at Stonehenge on Saturday, witnessing the sunrise over the ancient monument. The event, one of the few times visitors can walk among the stones, drew approximately 25,000 people, with hundreds of thousands more watching online. Temperatures in the UK reached a record high of 33°C (91.4°F) during the event, which was also marked by a joyous atmosphere, according to the site's head of operations. Stonehenge, built 5,000 years ago, is believed to have been a temple aligned with the sun's movements.
