Vantablack Coating Tests on Satellite to Reduce Light Pollution

Six years after a Vantablack-covered BMW X6 experiment, Surrey NanoSystems is testing its new Vantablack 310 coating on a satellite to reduce light reflection. This aims to mitigate the impact of increasingly numerous satellites on astronomical observations. Partnering with the University of Surrey, they're applying the coating to the Jovian 1 CubeSat. While slightly less light-absorbing than the original Vantablack (reflecting 2% vs. <0.1%), Vantablack 310's durability makes it suitable for satellite applications and handling.
