Zenobia Hotel in Palmyra, Syria, still stands : NPR

NPR correspondent Jackie Lay revisits Palmyra, Syria's Zenobia Hotel, after a three-decade absence. Once a luxurious establishment named after the ancient queen, the hotel now bears the scars of Syria's civil war, showing bullet damage. Lay recalls its former glory and the unique experience of staying there in the 1990s, close to the ancient Roman ruins. Despite the damage, there's hope for the hotel's future and the return of tourism to Palmyra.
