Severe Geomagnetic Storm May Bring Aurora Borealis

Read, Watch or Listen

A strong geomagnetic storm, potentially reaching G4 (Severe) levels, is predicted for June 1-3, increasing the chances of aurora borealis sightings across the US, as low as Alabama and northern California. The storm is caused by a large coronal mass ejection and multiple solar flares. While not expected to reach the intensity of May 2024's event, clear skies could make for impressive viewing, especially with cameras. Authorities advise monitoring space weather websites for updates and suggest using cameras with long exposure settings for optimal viewing.
