June's night sky offers stunning celestial events. Venus remains a bright morning star, while Vega shines brightly in the northeast. The Milky Way rises in the southeast around midnight, offering a spectacular view from dark sky locations. Several planetary conjunctions with the moon will occur throughout the month, including encounters with Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. The Arietid meteor shower peaks on June 7th, though best observed via radar. Numerous astronomy events are scheduled in the D.C. area, including presentations at Shenandoah National Park and meetings with local astronomy clubs.
