Faizan Zaki, a 13-year-old from Texas, won the 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee. Despite a near-miss due to overconfidence, he correctly spelled "eclaircissement" to secure the victory. Zaki's enthusiastic approach, contrasting with a more methodical style, marked his win in the bee's centennial year. He previously placed second in 2024. The competition featured a record number of correctly spelled words and showcased a high level of skill amongst the finalists.
