Read, Watch or Listen

A Liberian-flagged cargo ship, MSC Elsa 3, carrying hazardous materials and fuel, capsized off Kochi, Kerala, India. All 24 crew members were rescued, but leaked oil and drifting containers pose environmental and health risks. Authorities have issued a coastal alert, advising residents to avoid contact with spilled substances and deploying pollution control measures. The incident occurred 38 nautical miles from Kochi, resulting from flooding in a compartment. The ship carried 13 containers of hazardous cargo, 12 with calcium carbide, and significant amounts of diesel and furnace oil.
