High-definition images of the USS F-1, a World War I-era submarine lost in 1917, have been captured 1,300 feet below the ocean's surface. The images, released by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, were taken during an expedition using cutting-edge deep-sea technology. The submarine collided with its sister ship, resulting in the loss of 19 crew members. The expedition also captured images of a WWII-era Avenger torpedo bomber. A remembrance ceremony was held for the F-1's crew.
