Jafar Panahi It Was Just an Accident

Iranian dissident director Jafar Panahi won the Palme d'Or at Cannes for his film "It Was Just an Accident," a thriller criticizing Iran's regime. This is Panahi's third win at a major European film festival, completing a rare triple crown. The festival, despite a power outage caused by suspected sabotage, proceeded smoothly. Other winners included Kleber Mendonça Filho (Best Director and Actor), Nadia Melliti (Best Actress), and Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne (Best Screenplay). Neon, Panahi's distributor, has now won the Palme d'Or six years in a row.
