A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to retain custody of immigrants deported to South Sudan from a Texas detention facility. The judge, responding to an emergency motion, acted after lawyers discovered two Asian immigrants, among others, had been sent to the conflict-ridden country without proper notification or due process. The judge cited concerns about inhumane treatment and violations of previous court orders mandating due process for deportation. The Department of Homeland Security has yet to comment.
