Jamal Roberts won Season 23 of American Idol, beating out John Foster and Breanna Nix in a finale that saw over 27 million votes cast, the highest in ABC's history. The finale featured performances from the top three contestants, along with numerous celebrity guests including Salt-N-Pepa, Good Charlotte, and the Idol judges Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan. Breanna Nix finished third, and John Foster placed second.
