Pope Leo XIV, the first American pontiff, celebrated his inaugural mass on May 11, 2025. The ceremony, held in St. Peter's Basilica, included the presentation of the Petrine Pallium and Fisherman's Ring. The mass, lasting approximately two hours, was followed by the Regina Caeli prayer and greetings to delegations, including US Vice President JD Vance. Leo, formerly Cardinal Robert Prevost, was elected on May 8th, succeeding Pope Francis.
