FDA Bans Ingestible Fluoride for Children

Read, Watch or Listen

The FDA announced it's removing concentrated ingestible fluoride prescription drugs for children from the market by October 31st. These products, never FDA-approved, are ingested by infants and toddlers. Concerns exist regarding their impact on the gut microbiome, thyroid health, weight, and IQ. The FDA commissioner cited the importance of prioritizing children's safety and emphasized good dental hygiene and reduced sugar intake as superior cavity prevention methods. This action aligns with the HHS's 'Make America Healthy Again' initiative and follows several states' decisions to halt water fluoridation.
