Wegovy Can Treat a Dangerous Liver Disease, Study Finds

A new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine reveals that semaglutide, the active compound in Wegovy, shows promise in treating metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a severe liver disease affecting millions. In a 72-week trial sponsored by Novo Nordisk, 63% of participants receiving semaglutide experienced liver fat and inflammation reduction compared to 34% in the placebo group. This offers potential hope for a condition linked to obesity and type 2 diabetes, leading causes of liver transplants.
